Diciamo soltanto che è una delle rassegne di musica (muti)etnica più importanti del mondo. Fondato e voluto fortemente ogni anno da Peter Gabriel, il Womad è un, anzi è il festival internazionale itinerante di world music, il Lollapalooza dei rockettari tanto per intenderci. Per il dodicesimo anno torna in Sicilia, e più in particolare, nella splendida cornice del Teatro Antico di Taormina, costruito all’interno delle spettacolari rovine greche della meravigliosa località della provincia di Messina. Un’atmosfera ed un palcoscenico unici che faranno da sfondo di una line-up degna di tale location. Infatti dal 25 al 27 settembre al Womad si esibiranno artisti italiani tra i più apprezzati del momento come Stefano Bollani e Vinicio Capossela, quest’ultimo sold-out non solo nel Solo Tour teatrale della scorsa primavera ma anche in molte tappe delle date estive del medesimo tour a supporto dell’ultimo album. Oltre ai due artisti citati ci sarà una folta schiera di grandi nomi internazionali di musica etnica: Mariem Hassan (Western Sahara) · Khaled (Algeria) · Syriana e Abdullah Chhadeh (Syria/United Kingdom)· Eliades Ochoa (Cuba) · The Black Swan Effect (United Kingdom).
